In this design competition Mecanoo was invited to develop a new idea for the waterfront of Como, where the necessary technical issues against flooding were addressed together with a careful design and materialization of the public space and related infrastructures. This project was developed by Mecanoo with the management of Mauro Parravicini and went deep into suggestions for the city, way beyond the solely waterfront, by including innovative mobility solutions and strategies such as the transformation of the Municipal Stadium and a floating podium.
