Swiss Embassy Cameroon

2012, competition

Yaoundé | Cameroon

Mauro Parravicini, Marco Ghielmetti

This competition design has been conceived as a diagram, considering the division between private and public conditions of the embassy. By creating a double courtyard building all the public functions have been placed around the first garden, while the private residence of the ambassador has been structured around the second, private garden. The building wing in between the two contains the reception part of the embassy with a large ballroom where private and public come in contact. Wind towers and louvers are taking care of natural ventilation and sun shading, whilst an underground water basin is used as cooling and dehumidifying tool for the air circulation.
